Encouraging children to read for pleasure
The Reader Development outreach team work in partnership with schools. We provide class visits to teach children how to make the most of their local library.
We also run the national Summer Reading Challenge for Havering. This year we are offering assembly promotional visits to every primary school to promote 'Animal Agents', this year's theme.
Some of our libraries have Reading Buddies volunteers who support children with their reading after school on a one to one basis.
We also run reading groups for children called Chatterbooks in a couple of our libraries. The children talk about books they are reading and we do a book related activity.
We encourage children to use the latest technology to access Library services from online at home.
We have various children's events going on in all our libraries.
